They say ants are the most dominant species on the planet. There are more of them than humans on the Earth. Don't believe me? Count them.
The difference with humans is their ability to think rationally, independently and emotionally. It places us with existential quandaries: why are we here, and what is our significance? For most of the six billion or so of us on this planet, our lives will pass and fade with the sands of time. For all that, our mere presence on this planet is hardly noted.
So in the vastness of the universe, what use are we? And if we are, on balance, worthless bits of life albeit with the intelligence to understand our place in this world, what the hell is the point of ants?
